New Brockton completed the 2015 season with a 9-2 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region three, the Gamecocks earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. New Brockton's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Flomaton by a score of 26-20. The Gamecocks won as many games as in any season since 1989. The 464 points scored by the Gamecocks last year were a team record in a single season. The Gamecocks last playoff victory came during the 1999 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The high-scoring New Brockton offense ranked 12th in the AHSAA. They averaged 42.2 points a game. The Gamecocks defense dominated most opponents as they ranked 9th in the AHSAA. The defense gave up just 10.5 points a game. Since 2010, New Brockton has gone a combined 34-30. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 2A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, New Brockton has managed to compile a record of 126-136. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 2A and 204th in the AHSAA. The Gamecocks are led by head coach Justin Jones who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-6 over the past two seasons at New Brockton. Under his direction the Gamecocks have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. The Gamecocks should be in contention for a playoff spot in region three this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Gamecocks open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Georgiana on Friday, August 26 at Harmond Field. Last year the Georgiana Panthers finished with an overall record of 11-2 and in first place in Class 1A region two. The Panthers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Maplesville by a score of 36-28. New Brockton and Georgiana have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Gamecocks have a 7-5-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 1997 with New Brockton winning by a score of 30-18. New Brockton returns 2A All-State Senior punter Max Weeks.
